Social life at Superstition Mountain marches to a steady beat, with signature events on the Club calendar—events that engage the entire community and accent the sense of celebration that makes Superstition Mountain a special place.
Here’s a look back at some of these remarkable occasions and events that made news in 2006, many of which will be brought back for Members in 2007.
Fall Festival
Members and guests gather each November for food and fun to kick off the new season. Last year’s festival allowed Members to preview upcoming events and activities, including the Member cruise. The restaurant staff presented sample fare, including sushi made to order, and the bar staff made its instructive presentation of Martinis 101.
Piazza Party
Members and guests enjoy la bella vita (the good life) in this annual springtime celebration. Last year’s Piazza Party drew more than 500 Members and guests to Club Village, where they dined on Italian cuisine and savored the music, art and entertainment of an Italian street scene.
LPGA Safeway International
A highlight of the LPGA tour each March, the Safeway International features a full week of events for Superstition Mountain Members. In 2006, the four-round tournament marked its third year at the Prospector course; a record crowd of 110,000 watched Hall of Famer Juli Inkster charge to the title. The tournament also raised nearly $900,000 for local charities, including $632,000 for the Banner Health Foundation, and $20,000 for the Superstition Mountain Foundation.
Member Trip
An annual excursion for golf and adventure. In 2006 the trip took 23 Members on a British Isles cruise aboard the Crystal Cruise Lines ship Serenity. The Serenity docked in legendary ports such as Dover, Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh, and Members had the opportunity to golf at six different classic courses, including the Dundonald course, which is part of Lyle Anderson’s Loch Lomond Golf Club in Scotland.
Luxury Home Tour
The Superstition Mountain Foundation hosted a fund-raising luxury home tour in December, featuring five estate homes and the Club Village model enclave—all proceeds benefited Superstition Search and Rescue, a volunteer service organization that assists in medical emergencies, technical rescues and tracking lost or overdue hikers in the Superstition Mountain Wilderness Area .
Member Mixers
A regular highlight, Members are invited to gather every Tuesday at 5 p.m. to enjoy complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and the company of their neighbors at Superstition Mountain’s award-winning Clubhouse. Mixers can also be jazzed up with an occasional piano sing along.
Special Dining Events
The chefs at Superstition Mountain compose epicurean treats on a regular basis. Dig into Down Home night, featuring classic American creations; other themed dinners include Lobster Lovers, Prime Rib and Martinis, and The Sunset Grill on Saturday. Gourmet dining opportunities include elegant Wine Dinners, in which six superb courses are each paired with selected wines.
