3 Tips to Successful Summer Golf
It can get quite hot in Arizona during the summer months, (cue the video of cooking a steak on hot asphalt). Don’t let the heat keep you from enjoying our two Nicklaus-designed golf courses here at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club. With the below tips in mind, you can make the most of your time hitting the links, even during the summer months.
Clear sunny skies make for ideal golfing weather, however if you’re not careful or prepared, your body and golf game will pay the price. As common practice, we suggest wearing loose-fitting, breathable, light-colored clothing, a hat and sunglasses to keep your body as comfortable and protected as possible. Also, keep your golf grip intact with a comfortable breathable glove. Sweaty palms could cause some high-flying clubs that may travel further than your shot. Lastly, to avoid the need to continue reapplying sunblock, consider wearing a longer sleeve shirt to protect yourself from the sun.
Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate
Prior to your tee time, plan on drinking a bottle of water or two before stepping onto the course. The summer sun is quick to rob your body of hydration. Pack plenty of water on your cart and consider drinking a bottle every couple of holes. Thankfully, our 50,000-square-foot clubhouse at Superstition Mountain is full of ways to help you hydrate before, during and after your rounds of golf.
When possible, schedule your tee time as early as possible when the weather is cooler and the sun is less direct. Doing so will help you and your foursome avoid the hottest part of the day. When on the course, take breaks from the sun by taking advantage of shade from nearby trees and structures.
Don’t let the heat prevent you from taking advantage of world-class golf in our private gated community. Most importantly, know your limits and enjoy safe summer play all season long at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club.
