Top 4 Ways to Keep Your New Year's Resolution
2018 is here and many residents of our private golf courses in Arizona, take advantage of the start of the new year to set goals. Accomplish your New Year’s resolutions and keep the following tips in mind to make this year one for the books.
1. Write it Down
Once you confirm your goals for the year, take a moment and write them down and place them somewhere you will frequently see them. Posting the reminder on your refrigerator or your bathroom mirror will remind you of your resolutions on a daily basis, keeping them top-of-mind. Get specific with your goals, for example, if you desire to read more in 2018, create a specific list of books you would like to read every month versus a broad statement to “read more.”
2. Make Your Goals Realistic
Many resolutions are abandoned because in the spirit of “new year, new me,” the bar is set unattainably high and the gravity of the goals becomes overwhelming, and eventually abandoned. Set yourself up for success by creating realistic goals and manage your expectations. Instead of trying to accomplish multiple large goals in a year, focus on daily wins and work on one resolution at a time.
3. Evaluate Frequently
Whether it’s weekly, monthly or quarterly, evaluation is key to staying on top of your resolutions. Track your efforts and focus on progress, not perfection. The timeless saying that “Rome wasn’t built in a day” is true with change, stay positive and chip away at your goals. If needed, evaluate and adjust your resolutions.
4. Ask for Help
Don’t be afraid to ask for help or support from your inner circle. Friends, family and coworkers make excellent tools for accountability and encouragement. If your resolutions could be achieved with the help of others, do it! For instance, if you want to improve your golf game in the New Year, take advantage of our excellent team of professional instructors and numerous new sports programs at the Sports Club. The Power of Fitness Training for Golfers can help improve performance on the course and promote long-term health and longevity and with the support of others, you won’t feel like you’re tackling your resolutions solo.
With these tips in place, you can overcome any challenge and stay strong on your journey to accomplishing your goals for 2018 and beyond.
