Despite the warm weather there are plenty of exciting golf events across the Valley this month. A full list of events can be found at azgolf.org and below we’ve highlighted a few that we are most looking forward to here at Superstition Mountain Golf Club.

The Arizona Golf Association (AGA) 2016 Senior Cup Series continues on August 15 at the Phoenix Country Club and August 29 at Briarwood Country Club in Sun City West. These are two-person team events with 18 holes of four-ball stroke play. Competitors are allowed to change partners for each event and points are awarded based on net finishing in each flight.

The 92nd Arizona Amateur Championship at the Country Club at DC Ranch will be held on August 22-27. The deadline for registration is August 16 and comes with an amateur registration fee of $260. The tournament pits 144 players against each other in a 36-hole stroke play qualifying format. Practice rounds can be schedule on this premiere Scottsdale golf course August 6-21 and can be booked up to four days in advance.

If you’re looking for an excuse to head north for a few days, consider the 10th Annual Holes for Heart Care Golf Tournament. The charity event is being held August 25 at Pine Canyon Golf Club in Flagstaff. Entry deadline for this all day event is August 22 with the foursome cost of $2,000 including lunch and an awards dinner. Proceeds benefit the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona.

Don’t forget to watch men’s Olympic Golf August 11-14 and the women’s competition August 17-20. This is a big moment for the industry, it has been 112 years since golf has been considered an Olympic sport.
