Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club 1998-Present
Nestled at the foot of the majestic Superstition Mountains, just 25 minutes from Phoenix and 45 minutes from Scottsdale, you will find an 878-acre luxury gated community like no other. Two spectacular Nicklaus designed golf courses have proudly paved the way for the development, with play beginning on the Prospector Course in 1998 and on Lost Gold in 1999. Some of golf’s greatest, including Nicklaus, Irwin, Sorenstam and Ochoa, have walked the fairways of these beautiful Superstition Mountain courses that are as notable for their inspirational views as they are for their design. The stunning 50,000 sq. ft Tuscan-inspired clubhouse opened its doors in 2000 and is the hub of activity for community members and their guests.

Few golf clubs, if any, have weathered the number of transitions this club has endured over a short period of time. In 2008 the property went into receivership and was forced to open its doors to public play in order to remain viable. With rampant uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, in 2009 a member of the golf Club stepped in and purchased the Club’s assets out of receivership and began the process of revitalizing this once-brilliant jewel in the desert. Tough economic times contributed to a decline in the real estate development market as well as the golf industry, slowing progress toward this dream. Through all of the struggles, financial losses and disappointments, the ownership held steadfast to their goal of reclaiming Superstition Mountain’s glory. And remarkably a significant number of members remained… tenaciously clinging to their beautiful Club, their homes and that incomparable magnetic mountain.

On January 1, 2014, the reward for this perseverance was realized; Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club celebrated the return to completely private status. In spite of the hurdles, or perhaps because of them, Superstition Mountain has emerged stronger and more energized than ever. This revitalization is a testament to not only the vision of the owners but also the Club’s inherent strengths, enviable location, remarkable lifestyle and world-class golf courses.

Superstition Mountain, like no other property, appeals to all the senses. Its beauty is breathtaking, the mountain magnificent, the people warm and genuine. Yet time after time, the prevailing sense is an almost palpable feeling of peace and tranquility the moment you drive through the gates. A sigh of contentment escapes your lips, and you know that you are home.
