February Golf Events
The golf season continues as Arizona plays host to numerous tournaments across the Valley. The Arizona Golf Association (ACA) has four exciting golf events this month. Here at Superstition Golf and Country Club, we are looking forward watching the fierce competition across the Valley and beginning an amazing spring season at our luxury golf club.
Head south to Tucson, February 11-12 for the 2017 Coach Roy Tatum Best Ball Championship at the Dell Urich Golf Course. The two-person best ball AGA sanctioned tournament pits 80 teams against each other, with finishers eligible to receive 2017 AGA Players Cup Points.
Last year, the top finisher, Mason Nam edged out four competitors by one-stroke to win the 2016 San Tan Amateur. This month, numerous contenders from last year’s tournament and others return to compete in the 36-hole individual stroke play at the Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creek, February 18 and 19.
The annual Arizona Short Course Classic returns this month on February 18 and 19 at the Augusta Ranch Golf Course in Mesa. Participants will compete in single stroke play for their chance to win the coveted Augusta Ranch Green Jacket. Not only is the tournament open to Amateur adults, but the competition will also feature top junior talent from ages 11 to 18.
Hosted by former Major League Pitcher, Russ Ortiz, the 2017 Heart and Sol Celebrity Golf Tournament was created to honor small business and community leader, Yolanda Collazos Kizer who was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD,) a disease with no cure and few treatment options. The golf tournament in partnership with the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, helps raise funds for research, support and advocacy for those affected by FTD. The 2017 Heart and Sol Celebrity Golf Tournament takes place on February 17, at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix.
There is plenty to look forward to this spring with the golf season in full swing. For more information about the AGA, additional events and member benefits, please visit www.azgolf.org.
