What I Wish I Knew Before I Started Golfing

Golf is the greatest game ever played, and it’s also one of the most difficult. But, ask any golfer – even the casual player – and they’ll tell you that once you start, it can get addicting. Even novice golfers know how sweet it feels (and sounds!) when you hit a great shot. And how you are driven to chase that feeling around the course again and again.

If you are just getting into the game, the pros at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club can help you get into the swing of things. Contact the team today to learn more about onsite golf lessons or check out this blog outlining some Top Tips For New Golfers.

Equipment, swing mechanics, posture, course management … all are important things to master as you work on you game. But there are a few things you just have to learn along the way.

So, we asked our team What They Wish They Knew Before They Started Golfing and here’s what they had to say…

Clubs are meant to fit you, so find a professional and let them help you find something that fits your body and swing. Just because Jordan Speith plays a ProV1 golf ball, and Rory McIllroy plays a TaylorMade Driver, doesn’t mean you should. Take time to find what works for you!

~ Tyler Hoeft, Head Golf Professional

Invest in good golf shoes! Getting the right pair of shoes will make the game more enjoyable as they will be more comfortable and will last longer. Make sure they are waterproof as golf courses tend to be wet in the mornings, even in the desert!

~ Matt Brooks, Director of Golf

You are not Tiger Woods, or any other professional player on tour. Only 26% of golfers shoot below 90 and that’s ok. No matter how competitive you are as a person…just have fun.

~ Josh Nylin, Food & Beverage Director

You can learn all you need to know about a person by how they conduct themselves during a round of golf.
