Sun Safety Tips for the Arizona Winter

sun-protection

The scorching summer heat is an obvious reminder to take crucial steps to protect yourself from the sun when on our two Nicklaus designed golf courses. However, during the perfect cooler weather we experience the rest of the year, steps should still be taken to protect yourself from the sun. Check out these sun safety tips from our retail and golf pros here at Superstition Golf and Country Club.

We take extra measures to wear sunscreen during the warmer months, and the same steps should be taken during the cooler seasons as well. The sun’s rays can still be damaging if protective measure are not taken. Reapplying a sunblock of 30 SPF or higher every two hours can prevent harmful UV rays from harming your skin.

Dress Appropriately
It is important to cover your skin from the sun if you’ll be on the course for an extended period. Many popular golf apparel brands offer clothing that not only keeps you comfortable, but also protects from harmful sun waves. For more information or to purchase this apparel, visit our Top 100 Golf Shop.

Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate
Drink water, plenty and consistently. We often forget the importance of hydration when the weather is pleasant. If heading out to the course, be sure to bring at least one liter of water for every hour you will be out per Golf Digest.

Be Mindful of Time Spent in the Sun
If possible, golf earlier in the day when the sun’s rays are less direct and harsh. The enjoyable weather can get the best of us if we are not aware of how much exposure we have had to the sun. If you would like to golf longer, be sure to take breaks from the sun by standing in the shade throughout the course, or relax and refuel inside our beautiful and inviting clubhouse.

We are fortunate to have wonderful weather nearly year-round in Arizona. Taking these suggestions will help keep you and your skin safe and healthy on and off the golf course. For more sun safety tips check out 3 Tips to Protect Your Skin in the Heat.
