Earth Day is just around the corner and our private golf course community is dedicated to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Leadership at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club has made “going green” a priority in our day-to-day operations. Environmental responsibility is one of the Club’s eight primary brand identifiers and is reflected throughout the Club’s official brand messaging. Here are a few ways we incorporate green initiatives throughout the Club from our two Nicklaus-designed golf courses to the clubhouse.

To achieve the goal of reducing energy consumption, we have taken measures to make the facilities energy-efficient in the areas of water, energy, recycling and awareness.

For water efficiency, the Club is equipped with a state-of-the-art weather station to measure rainfall, humidity and other weather data to help determine the appropriate amount of irrigation water for the courses.

Utilizing energy-efficient A/C compressors and irrigation pumps, the Club uses significantly less power during hours of operation. Superstition Mountain has upgraded to more than 1,400 energy efficient light bulbs throughout the property and installed motion-sensitive lighting for low-traffic areas. The Club has also installed a solar powered heating system for its clubhouse pool, reducing energy usage significantly.

In addition, the Club has enacted recycling policies and energy awareness messages for our members and staff to collectively focus on reducing the Club’s carbon footprint.

“By taking measures to utilize energy-efficient technology and reinforce a ‘green’ culture, our staff, with the support of our residents at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club will continue to lead the way for conservation within our industry.” said Mark Gurnow, General Manager of Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club.

The Club’s strong emphasis on environmental responsibility resulted in being named the 2016 Arizona Community Environmental Award by the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA.) The accolade honors the private club’s efforts and dedication to environmental responsibility. As Earth Day approaches, join Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club in ‘going green’ to preserve and conserve the environment.
