3 Places to See Fall Colors in Arizona

Arizona is home scenic mountains, majestic saguaros and to the surprise of many, great fall foliage viewing. For residents of our golf course communities in Arizona are eager to see beautiful fall colors and crisp autumn air can do so with a simple day trip. Fall colors can be seen beginning the middle of September and reach peak coloring in October. Check out these popular hiking trails. 

1. Inner Basin Trail, Flagstaff
Heading north just past Downtown Flagstaff, the Inner Basin Trail traverses along the heart of the ancient Mount Humphreys volcano. There are several ways to access this trail, with the Lockett Meadow Campground being one of the more direct and simplest ways of starting the trail. The entire trail is more than 3 miles long, but fall foliage can be seen from the very start. 

2. West Fork Trail, Oak Creek Canyon
Halfway between the gates of our Gold Canyon Country Club and Flagstaff, the West Fork Trail in Oak Creek Canyon is one of the most popular fall hikes in Arizona. This scenic trail begins just beyond Sedona, and offers seven miles of hiking with more than a dozen creek crossings. Note, due to its popularity, its recommended to arrive early as parking space is limited. 

3. Downtown Flagstaff
If you are not in the mood for hiking, visitors can still enjoy autumn offerings by visiting Downtown Flagstaff. Stroll the city streets and take in local food, drink and shopping and enjoy the colorful trees throughout the city.
